Château Cos d'Estournel er det første slot, man møder, når man kører ind i Saint-Estèphe fra syd. Slottets unikke arkitektur med pagodelignende tårne minder om skotske destillerier. Her produceres en af Bordeaux' bedste vine, som i gode årgange kan konkurrere med Château Lafite-Rothschild. Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel, skaberen af slottet og vinen, opdagede, at undergrunden her gav bedre vine end andre steder i området. Vinen blev populær, også i Indien, og blandt fans i Europa var dronning Victoria, Zaren af Rusland, Napoleon III, Jules Verne og Karl Marx. Siden 2000 har Michel Reybier ejet Château Cos d'Estournel og investeret i både kælder og slot. Produktionen er optimeret for at undgå iltning ved at transportere mosten og vinen via tyngdekraften.
